Ben Hur's $22.5 million chariot from ABC

It turns out that Judah Ben Hur is still the king of kings.

ABC has committed $22.5 million to produce a four-hour miniseries of Ben Hur, William Wyler’s biblical 1959 film about a renegade hero in ancient Rome that took home 11 Oscars.

Steve Shill (Rome) is on board to direct a script penned by Alan Sharp (Rob Roy), with production expected to start in May. Canada, Spain and Morocco will be the locations.

Casting for Ben Hur is underway, but no airdate has been set.
