Another shot at Parenthood

TV must be getting environmentally friendly. How else can you explain NBC's newfound interest in recycling ideas?

Peter Krause, former star of Six Feet Under and Dirty Sexy Money, has signed on to star in NBC's second adaptation of Ron Howard's 1989 movie, Parenthood.

Joining him will be Maura Tierney, who recently ended her nine-year run on ER, and Craig T. Nelson (Coach), who's expected to ink a contract within the next few days.

NBC first adapted this movie into a sitcom back in 1990, but Parenthood was cancelled after eight episodes, despite counting Leonardo Dicaprio, Ed Begley Jr., David Arquette and Thora Birch among its stars.

Networks almost never bring back shows that failed 20 years ago; NBC must assume the first Parenthood series only failed because of David Arquette's lack of charisma.
